Department Summary
University Health & Counseling (UHC), within the University of Michigan's Division of Student Life, is a comprehensive clinical care unit made up of Counseling and Psychological Services and University Health Services. UHC provides public-health-informed clinical services designed especially for the college population. Select services include primary care; individual and group counseling; specialized clinics such as sports medicine, sexual health, and addiction medicine; an in-house pharmacy; and more.
Job Summary
The marketing and communications specialist is responsible for managing and developing comprehensive communications plans for University Health & Counseling (UHC). Specifically, this role serves as the lead in managing and maintaining a newly revamped and branded website for UHC, managing the development and coordination of needed materials (including presentations, handouts, rack cards, and more), and providing essential support in communications efforts across UHC, and with relevant stakeholders and other divisional and institutional partners. They will also offer guidance and counsel to the leadership of UHC from a communications, marketing, and design perspective. They will partner closely with the communications and PR lead for the chief health officer and other health and wellness communications staff within the portfolio of the associate vice president for health and wellness in Student Life and chief health officer.

Responsibilities
Communications Planning (50%)
Develop internal and external communication plans for UHC units, including managing implementation timelines / calendars.
Manage the creation of a new UHC website and maintain web content long term using Drupal and WordPress.
Work with various partners, including UHC senior leadership, UHC clinical staff, Student Life communicators, U-M Public Affairs, and others.
Strategize and coordinate with appropriate staff to develop and implement health behavior campaigns and digital marketing strategies that increase traffic to UHC and student engagement with public health messaging.
Counsel and work with UHC leadership to execute communications projects (e.g., annual reports, strategic plan communication, internal communications).
Will promote health equity and access through UHC communications materials.
Contribute UHC content to Student Life divisional-level communication efforts.
Marketing (25%)
Plan and execute marketing efforts that promote, support, and engage the initiatives of UHC across the university.
Represent UHC positively to students, faculty, staff, family members, and the broader community.
Coordinate social media strategies, policies, and best practices across the health and wellness portfolio and Student Life.
Lead efforts to order print materials, including handouts, banners, and more.
Design (25%)
Partner with designers within and outside of Student Life and manage various design requests for UHC, including development, proofreading, and printing.
Maintain inventory of necessary materials and swag items and reorder / update as needed.
Lead the design of occasional pieces for print or digital use.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Health Communications, Communications, English, Marketing, or a related field
A minimum of 3 years of experience in communications

Additional Information
Position Criteria :
Strong experience or interest in health care, public health, mental health, or a related field
Ability to work proactively and strategically to anticipate communication needs and present options
Previous work experience developing internal communications plans and strategies
Demonstrated capacity in creating exceptional communications, strong writing skills, and ability tocommunicate clearly to a variety of audiences
Ability to produce or direct content on digital and social media platforms
Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere and effectively meet deadlines while remaining flexible forunplanned opportunities
Ability to both work independently and collaborate in a team environment
Ability to supervise and support student workers
Experience with website content management
