Position Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Fundamental Objectives of this Position:
Assist the Director of Human Resources and Manager of Payroll in planning and leading a comprehensive Human Resources & Payroll Office to support the mission of the University, including staff recruitment, employment services, job evaluation, benefits management, retirement plan administration, compensation administration, compliance, records management, and training and organizational development.
Responsibilities
· Provide oversight with the continued development and maintenance of the HRIS systems, including but not limited to reporting in Colleague, applicant tracking system, onboarding system, performance management system, and other employee related systems. Promote new and proactive approaches for using systems to solve business needs/problems and enhance the understanding and acceptance of HRIS capabilities.
· Assist in the processing of all requisitions, salary, grade, title changes, and the issuance of compensation letters to faculty and staff. Coordinate with human resources and payroll to insure complete, accurate transactions. Analyze internal equity and external competitiveness of all elements of compensation and recommend changes based on this analysis. Conduct market compensation surveys and participate in annual salary surveys including IPEDS, CUPA, and AAUP. Ensure all plans and programs remain fully compliant with federal, state and local regulations and new emerging requirements or trends.
· Manage all faculty, staff, and retiree benefit programs. Programs include, but are not limited to tuition, retirement, medical, dental, disability, and life insurance. Responsibilities include creating a benefits communication strategy, working with vendors on the annual benefits renewal, implementation of benefit changes, conducting open enrollment sessions, counseling employees on benefit options, and invoice reconciliation.
· Assist the Director in the performance review program, updating forms, training and communication.
· In conjunction with the Director, identify, evaluate, and conduct various training programs for staff.
· Assist in developing and administering strategic planning initiatives for the Office of Human Resources.
· Develop professionally by reading and attending professional workshops and conferences; keep current on national and regional trends in the higher education arena of human resources.
· Develop collegial, professional working relationships with University administration, faculty, and staff.
· Manage the HR office in the Director’s absence.
· Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in human resources, personnel management, or other related degree or equivalent required. Master’s degree in related area strongly preferred.
· Minimum of five years of successful experience as a human resources manager; experience in a higher education environment preferred.
· Diverse experience in human resources areas, such as recruiting, selection, benefits management, employee relations, HRIS, policy administration, and training and development.
· Demonstrated ability or experience working with diverse populations in required.
· Ability to assist in mediating human relations issues preferred.
· Comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal employment regulations and laws.
· Excellent oral presentation/public speaking skills.
· Proficient in MSWord, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
