Brief Summary of Job Description
The Graduate Teaching Assistant supports a variety of efforts in the Department of Modern Languages to deliver instruction and programming for language learning and intercultural competence.
Job Duties
- Teach two undergraduate Spanish courses per term
- Teach one undergraduate Spanish course per term with additional duties
- Attend department meetings and other committee meetings as assigned
Additional duties can include:
- Serve as a teaching assistant in an online or blended instruction course
- Periodically assist in organizing and supervising student activities, including Conversation Tables, Clubs, World Language Week and Language Passport events, etc.
- Aid in planning and delivering training and professional development to department tutors.
- Aid in supervising the use of the department language lab for language proficiency testing.
Required Qualifications
- Must have strong proficiency in Spanish.
- Must be admitted or plan to be admitted to a graduate program at UNK to begin study no later than Fall 2025.
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Education, Spanish or related field
- Admitted to Spanish Master of Arts in Education Program
- Experience teaching languages
Physical Demands
Schedule
19 hours per week during Fall and Spring semesters, flexible schedule
