Position Summary
The Grants Coordinator I is responsible for providing customer-focused support to investigators seeking external funding. Primary responsibility includes all aspects of facilitating review and submission for externally funded projects to support research, creative activity, instruction, and public service activities – including creating comprehensive, compliant, and consistent budgets, interpreting sponsor guidelines for proposal submissions; reviewing routine/complex proposals for compliance with applicable regulations and policies; utilizes multiple sponsor and internal electronic systems and websites; resolves complex issues independently. Secondary responsibilities include reviewing awards for acceptance; ensures research compliance issues are addressed; facilitates sponsor changes to awards; and other non-financial transactions.
Professional communication, collaboration, and high-level problem-solving skills are essential to the success of this position. The successful candidate will interact effectively and expeditiously with all levels of university faculty, staff, students, and external sponsors, maintaining the highest standards of integrity and ethics. S/he will work efficiently in a high-stress, fast-paced work environment that is deadline driven.

Duties:
- Serve as lead/primary contact for Colleges and Units in all pre-award procedures.
- Develop proposal budgets.
- Review and approve proposals prior to submission:
- Assist faculty, administrators and staff in interpretation and clarification of sponsor guidelines.
- Advise on required sponsor forms, assurances, and certifications.
- Compilation of and review of proposal components for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable laws, University and NE state regulations, and sponsor regulations.
- Track and ensure completion of internal approvals of proposals, prior to submission.
- Aid in the application process:
- Initiation of required proposal submission portals.
- Maintain proficiency with the many electronic proposal submission and award software packages.
- Maintain accurate documentation files

- Compile and respond to sponsor requests for prior to official award execution.
- Reviews and accepts basic agreements from federal and non-federal sponsors.
- Serves as the University liaison to sponsor representatives to gather or provide information and reconcile issues pertaining to basic agreements.
- Interprets, explains, and applies rules, regulations, and policies to award terms and conditions.
