Job Title NCITE Graduate Research Assistant Department Center for Collaboration Science Essential FunctionsThe National Counterterrorism, Innovation, Technology, and Education Center (NCITE), a U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Center of Excellence (COE) at the University of Nebraska Omaha, is seeking Graduate Research Assistant to assist with a project associated with deepfake technology.The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-starter and be able to collaborate with others. The individual will be very organized and detail-oriented, and as a result, be able to anticipate issues before they arise and come up with solutions to those issues. The individual will also need strong communication skills to coordinate schedules among project personnel and communicate project successes to key stakeholders.Primary Duties :
- Conduct research on deepfake technology and related concepts.
- Experiment with the creation of deepfakes and understand tools, resources and techniques utilized to make deepfake videos.
- Assist with data collection.
- Work collaboratively with a distributed research team.This position could be hired as a Spring 2025 Graduate Assistant or Graduate Student Worker (Hourly) to be decided at time of hire. Non-US persons are available for hire with confirmation self-reporting requirements will be met. No Student or Work Visa will be offered with this position.Work Schedule 20 hours week, in-person Additional DutiesParticipate in meetings, prepare presentations, conduct presentations.Required Qualifications
- Must be a UNO Masters student in good standing, enrolled in courses Spring 2025.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and a desire to work with new software.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be willing and able to work hours in person in the office.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Upon hiring, must complete IRB Training and CITI Certification (required to work with human subjects for research), as well as DHS security trainings. (All training completed at UNO at no cost to student).Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with all levels of people in a professional and courteous manner.
- Comfortable with Public Speaking
- Passionate about homeland security research and / or willingness to learn.
