You will join the foundation at an exciting time, with the opportunity to make a transformational impact. The foundation is in the public phase of a historic campaign to raise $3 billion to build a better future for Nebraska. The campaign is being led by many enthusiastic volunteers representing all areas of the University of Nebraska System. This position will work in our Lincoln office.
Ways you will make an impact:
- Code and verify accuracy of employee expense reports and accounts payable invoices and verify proper procedures and policies are followed prior to payment.
- Prepare journal entries for review, approval, and subsequent processing and reconcile accounts.
- Maintain accounting records, including preparation of journal entries and reconciliations, for foundation affiliates, including UNF Investments and UNF Charitable Gift Fund.
- Assist Controller with preparation of audit requests for foundation and affiliates and assist auditors.
- Manage fixed asset process including accounting for asset acquisition, disposals, and depreciation.
- Serve as backup for various departmental tasks and complete additional duties as assigned.

What you need:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent with an emphasis in accounting.
- Minimum Experience: 3 years’ experience in general accounting environment or related field. Internship experience will be considered if within the accounting/finance field. Preferred Experience: Experience with processing accounts payable and journal entries.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and journal entry preparation.
- Working knowledge of applicable sales tax regulations.
- Attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with confidential data.
- Strong software and internet skills, including Microsoft office, database skills, reporting tools, online resources; aptitude to learn and utilize new technologies as needed.
