The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Operations Director, UNLV Gaming Regulation (Flexible Work Schedule) [R0146374]
The International Center for Gaming Regulation (“the Center”) advances global collaborative efforts to enhance the science and rigor of gaming regulation. The Center works with regulators, operators and suppliers to the gaming industry worldwide to ensure that they have current information, best practices, and tools; promote research to enhance understanding of gaming industry; and advocate for consistent, effective standards where appropriate. In pursuing its objectives, the Center will offer the highest levels of information, research, knowledge, networking, and instruction available on gaming regulation to a global audience.
The Operations Director position will be primarily responsible for delivering educational content to a stakeholder audience that is both virtual and in-person at the UNLV Maryland campus. With the current ability to deliver educational programs virtually, the Center has been able to attract and retain industry participants from around the world with much greater success. These factors require this position to actively recruit, direct and maintain a pool of both instructors and attendees. This also includes direction of marketing efforts as well as delivery technology logistics, instructor coordination, instructor logistics, and platform training as well as the oversight of our Center's Program & Marketing Manager in the management and direction of efforts to successfully plan, promote and execute ICGR open-enrollment and custom programs. Ensure and actively work with content delivery partners to maintain the Center and University’s branding and professional standards including the acquisition and the review of content submissions for branding consistency and professional presentation standards as set forth by the Center's Executive Director.
The Operations Director is primarily responsible for supporting the self-sustaining efforts associated with the Center's educational and for-profit activities including preparation of program profit and loss statements as well as oversight and management of the Center's educational program offerings (both in schedule and frequency), representing a large portion of the Center's operating budget and is responsible for the management and frequent review of the Center’s internal and externally published program calendar to ensure frequent and relevant deliveries to current market needs.
Further, the Operations Director is responsible to ensure the success and profitability of each educational program that is conducted, and will be requested to frequently review post-program profit and loss statements to suggest and implement cost-saving and/or participant-driving strategies, alongside the Center’s Program & Marketing Manager. Additionally, the Operations Director will manage the negotiations with outside vendors and internal campus departments regarding cost and timing of the delivery of services. This includes accurate and timely communication of financial information pertaining to the delivery of the proposed program(s) for vendor contracting purposes, in compliance with UNLV policies. As the Center continues to grow, the Operations Director will work to achieve full financial sustainability and be responsible for these efforts.
Under the direction of the Center’s Executive Director, the Operations Director will be responsible for continuing to maintain the Center's reputation for best executive educational experience built over the last eight years. The Operations Director will work with senior level gaming industry executives, policy makers and stakeholders to support the Center's continued growth. This position will also interface with UNLV stakeholders, as necessary, to deliver the content that the Center has become known for throughout the gaming industry.
Due to the international nature of our Center, this position will, at times, be required to work outside of normal business hours (M-F, 8-5PM) including program preparation and delivery on differing time zones as well as holding and attending virtual meetings and consultations with International clients and participants.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 3-5 years of experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
Knowledge:
- The Operations Director has a general knowledge of the gaming industry. Including but not limited to casino operations, sports betting, table games and how regulations work in gaming. An in-depth knowledge is not required, nor desired. Candidates should have knowledge of an academic institution's operating environment.
Skills:
- Navigating and using the technology necessary to deliver a quality and seamless delivery of virtual and in person executive education programs. Ability to adapt to the latest technology associated with these types of virtual delivery mechanisms. Ability to direct staff in utilizing and obtaining proficiency in these applications. Ability to comprehensively write, direct the production of and edit business proposals.
Abilities:
- Directing the activities of multiple programs undertaken simultaneously.
- Ability to work outside of normal, UNLV business hours.
- Ability to nurture faculty instructors and direct staff to achieve these directives.
- Ability to work closely with various stakeholders in an efficient and expedient manner.
- Ability to direct multiple content acquisition efforts simultaneously.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge:
- Previously worked in the area of delivering education and gaming related programming. Use the general knowledge of the gaming industry to curate content from instructors for varied levels of engagement from executive education attendees.
