Job Description
The Office of Marketing and Communications is looking for a student worker for the role of Web Content Editor.
In this part-time role, you’ll gain hands-on experience with the University’s content management system (CMS)—a tool used to create, edit, and organize web pages—as well as develop expertise in digital accessibility and content strategy. Using a ticketing system, you’ll collaborate with requestors across campus to make impactful updates throughout the website.
This position is open to students in any major; the skills learned are applicable in a wide range of careers as nearly every business can benefit from a web presence. Some web experience is a plus but is not required. Students will receive complete on-the-job training, and first- and second-year students are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
  • Managing requests for website updates from campus units
  • Editing and proofreading content; formatting content for the web
  • Remediating digital content and documents for ADA accessibility
  • Using SiteImprove to monitor and fix quality assurance issues on websites
  • Improving the SEO (search engine optimization) of our website
  • Building and updating online forms
Required Qualifications
  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and able to communicate professionally and work well in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong copy-editing skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Knowledge of writing/style guides such as the AP Stylebook
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn basic HTML
  • Organized and able to manage multiple work assignments and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently
