The School of Molecular and Physical Sciences (SMAPS) in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at the University of New England (UNE) invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Chemistry starting in August 2025. The successful candidate will join a collegial, engaged team of faculty and professional staff in a school offering programs in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Laboratory Science, and Biophysics.

Responsibilities

The school seeks candidates to teach undergraduate general chemistry lectures and labs, and additional courses in the candidate’s area of expertise as needed. The successful candidate will contribute to coordination of general chemistry curriculum assessment, and contribute to laboratory curriculum development. The typical teaching load is the equivalent of 12 credits per semester. Additionally, the successful candidate will engage in curriculum development and participate in academic advising, recruiting, course and program assessment, and service to the school, college and University.

Qualifications

A master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemistry Education, or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment; preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. or those with a combination of professional experience and education that provide commensurate qualifications. Preference will also be given to candidates who have demonstrated experience in laboratory curriculum assessment and development.
