Under the supervision of the CCOM IT Manager, provide technical support in two key areas:
- On-prem L1/L2 technical support for CCOM IT group via CCOM’s Helpdesk system and in-person with CCOM/JHC faculty, students, and staff. Assist the sysadmin team on vendor support, technical documentation, asset management, and other IT duties as assigned.
- With the CCOM system administrators, perform soware development tasks related to in-house administrative and scientific tools.
- L1/L2 technical support – 45%. Assist the CCOM IT Group in providing technical support for CCOM faculty, students, and staff. Utilize CCOM IT Helpdesk system for communication and management of requests. Provide documentation support, asset management support, and project support for CCOM IT tasks.
- Development support – 45%. Assist the Sysadmin team in key development areas with the goal of building better technical workflows for the Center. Primarily development and upkeep of CCOM Intranet apps – asset tracking, progress reporting, administrative scripting, and other projects as assigned.
- Administrative and facility related duties -10%. At the direction of the IT Manager or CCOM Project Manager, liaise with other departments within CCOM on tasks where technical expertise is required, or where non-technical expertise is required for a CCOM IT project. Other duties as assigned related to Administrative Group, Facility Group, Outreach group, or for PI projects.
- High school diploma.
- Experience troubleshooting Windows, Linux, and MacOS operating systems.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware.
- Basic customer support/service experience.
- Working knowledge of development languages in the CCOM/JHC environment, including PowerShell, Python, Power App, and others as needed.
- Working knowledge of computer operating systems and their administrative tools.
- Primarily Microsoft Windows 7 and later, Server 2016 and later.
- Also Linux operating systems (RHEL and Debian variants primarily), and macOS. Knowledge of iOS and Android also a plus.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, primarily Dell/Intel/AMD systems and Apple computers.
- Basic troubleshooting and repair skills for aforementioned hardware.
- Knowledge of enterprise printers, plotters, projectors, and other peripherals also helpful.
- Working knowledge of development languages and environments, including PowerShell, PowerApp, HTML, PHP, and Python, which are at the core of most of CCOM’s internal development environment.
- Basic understanding of MySQL and its forks is also a plus.
- Ability to use CCOM version control systems (primarily Git via GitHub and Bitbucket) for maintaining development projects.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
