Are you prepared to leverage your strategic planning, project management, and communication expertise? As the Communications & Marketing Manager within the VP Office for Institutional Support Services, you'll spearhead our strategic communication and marketing efforts, overseeing multi-phased campaigns that leave a lasting institutional impact. Additionally, you'll manage ISS Creative Services, a hub supporting 18 ISS departments with comprehensive communication, graphic design, photography, and website development services. You'll ensure efficient project execution by providing oversight for two support staff/creative team members responsible for handling projects via the ISS Creative Services ticketing system. Your leadership extends beyond this as you collaborate closely with our VP Office Administrators and ISS department Directors to address communication, marketing, and graphic design needs. You'll also take the helm as the chair of the ISS Communication & Marketing Committee, where you'll mentor marketing and communication professionals across ISS departments. Duties and Responsibilities

·       Lead Strategic Communication and Marketing Efforts: Working directly with VP Office and ISS departmental leadership, develop, implement, and oversee strategic communication and marketing campaigns that have a significant institutional impact.

·       Media Relations and Content Creation: Conduct media relations efforts for the VP Office and ISS departments, responding to requests for information from media personnel. Coordinate response efforts with UCAM personnel. Additionally, write, edit, and publish articles and materials for the UNM Newsroom, ISS Newsletter, website, and Listserv, effectively promoting the university's mission and achievements.

·       Manage ISS Creative Services: Oversee a central hub providing comprehensive communication, graphic design, photography, and website development services to 18 ISS departments. Work closely with VP Office Administrators and ISS department Directors to assess and address communication, marketing, and graphic design needs, contributing to institutional goals and objectives.

·       Oversight of Creative Projects and Tracking System: Provide supervision and management for two support staff/creative team members responsible for processing and managing projects through the ISS Creative Services ticketing system, ensuring efficient execution of creative projects.

·       Collaborative Engagement: Represents ISS at various community and business meetings. Actively partner with and attend University Communications & Marketing (UCAM) Communications meetings, MARCOMM meetings, and similar relevant gatherings to ensure alignment with broader university communication and marketing strategies and stay updated on best practices in the field. Chair the ISS Communication & Marketing Committee and lead the group on various ISS initiatives and projects. Provide mentorship and guidance to marketing and communication professionals across ISS departments.

·       Provides Support for Special Events and Community Outreach: Provides support to VP Office and ISS departments for town halls, open houses, tours, press conferences, and various outreach and community events. Initiates and implements direct outreach and marketing efforts to internal and external customers on half of ISS programs and services.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience.

Preferred Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, journalism, public relations, or a related field

·       Three or more years of experience writing and editing public relations materials for administrators or senior management, to include press releases, fact sheets, and/or media responses.

·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and partnership building with various departments, external organizations, and entities within the university

·       Three or more years of supervisory or management experience.

·       Proficiency in guiding and directing a team in graphic design, multimedia content creation, website redesigns, and social media management.

·       Familiarity with brand development and management.

·       Proficient in data analysis and using insights to drive communication strategies.

·       Proven excellence in project management, effectively handling multiple tasks and responsibilities while consistently meeting deadlines.

·       Demonstrated expertise in developing comprehensive communication and marketing plans that effectively cater to overlapping audiences across multiple initiatives. Proven ability to identify opportunities for cross-promotion among various departments.
