The University of New Mexico is seeking an experienced Mental Health Support Specialist to join our Behavioral Health department. As a key member of our team, you will provide support and guidance to individuals and families navigating mental health challenges.
You will facilitate and encourage the development of skills in activities of daily living, interpersonal coping, socialization, and community functioning. Based on the needs of the individual, this function may include facilitating adaptation to home, school, work, recreational, and social environments.
Responsibilities:
- Wellness Promotion: Offer information and resources to promote patient wellness and recovery.
- Medication Education: Provide education on illnesses, medication, side effects, and discuss medication concerns with the provider.
- Assessment and Intervention: Assess and intervene in crisis situations, including the facilitation of the development and use of individual crisis management plans.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- 1 year directly related experience.
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider certification within 30 days.
