The University of New Mexico Student Health & Counseling clinic (SHAC) is recruiting for a knowledgeable, detail-oriented Nurse Manager to manages the day-to-day nursing operations of a specified clinical area, including coordination of patient care, supervision of a professional team which includes multiple nursing staff and other staff as appropriate, administrative and budget management, and troubleshooting of problem areas. Ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing procedures, standards, and practices. The
Student Health & Counseling Center is located at the center of campus. The
clinic provides comprehensive primary and mental health services and has a
laboratory, x-ray, pharmacy, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, case
management, and health promotions on site. Other medical services provided are
same day appointments, travel medicine, immunizations, and sports medicine.

Associate's degree in Nursing or directly related field/discipline; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience in the coordination of daily, weekly, and monthly scheduling and patient flow. Attends scheduling meetings. Works closely with the Mid-level/Nursing Services Director to coordinate and direct patient care and clinical procedures to ensure quality control.
- Experience supervising nurses and medical assistants in the General Medical (GenMed) area. Includes hiring, training, enforcement of procedures and protocols, and maintaining nursing and MA schedules.
- Experience guiding safety practices for the clinic and Safety Committee meetings. Attends and participates in quality improvement activities, studies and meetings. Helps coordinate the SHAC ASAP/GenMed combined meeting with the Medical Director and Mid-level/Nursing Services Director. Coordinates nursing/MA department staff meetings twice monthly and assists with workflow meetings.
- Experience providing competency and educational activities for all nursing staff and MAs. Works with Operations Manager to oversee CPR recertification for all nursing and medical providers. Provides oversight for AAAHC Nursing Compliance Standards.
- Experience in health education outreach efforts.
- Experience in assisting with coordinating the maintenance of clinical machines and supplies.
- Experience with the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Experience providing direct patient care and assisting with the day-to-day fluidity of the clinic.

Salary : $6,800 - $8,045
