Position Summary

The Department of Psychiatry andBehavioral Sciences at University of New Mexico Health Sciences is eager to puttogether the right package for an individual with a passion for clinicalpsychology and academics, coupled with an interest in joining a team oftalented, caring and dedicated faculty members. Applications are being acceptedfor an academic faculty clinical psychologist, suitable for appointment at theAssistant, Associate or full Professor rank. Positions are currently availablein the Community Behavioral Health Division. Research involvement is possiblefor applicants with the appropriate background. This position includes bothclinical and academic opportunities.

As a member of our supportive andcollegial department, the person selected will have opportunities formulti-cultural clinical care with an emphasis on the treatment of NativeAmerican populations. Scholarly activities are available, includingcollaboration with colleagues across the health sciences campus and in ruralcommunities across the state. There is potential for professional developmentin leadership and administration within UNM Health Sciences. Educationalactivities include teaching and administration of seminars, mentoring andsupervision of trainees in our APA Accredited Clinical Psychology InternshipProgram, as well as medical students, residents, fellows, post docs, traineesin related disciplines, and participation in educational committees. Salary andacademic rank are commensurate with experience and academic background.

Known for its natural beauty andtemperate climate, Albuquerque is New Mexico’s largest city and sits at thebase of the Sandia Mountains on the edge of the Rio Grande Valley. With itsrich multicultural history, active arts community, and proximity to Santa Feand Taos, Albuquerque is home to the University of New Mexico, Kirtland AirForce Base, Sandia National Laboratories, Intel and the Isotopes.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or related field;
  • Clinical experience, minimum 1 year
  • Experience working with Native American communities in New Mexicoproviding clinical care to Pueblo populations.
  • Experience providing school-based mental health services in Bureau ofIndian Education Schools and Public Schools in New Mexico serving NativeAmerican youth and Title I youth.
  • Experience working on suicide prevention efforts.
  • Licensable in New Mexico.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Educational, teaching and supervision experience with psychologyinterns, post doctoral fellows and/or trainees in multiple disciplines.
  • Experience working with Native American populations, especially youthand families from Pueblo communities in New Mexico.
  • Experience providing Dialectic Behavior Therapy, Cognitive BehavioralTherapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Suicide Prevention.
  • Experience working in School-Based Health settings in Bureau of IndianEducation Schools and Public Schools in New Mexico serving Native Americanyouth and Title I youth.
  • Experience working on research initiatives related to adolescentsubstance abuse.
  • Experience in grant writing and administering federal grants.
  • Experience writing technical reports for policymakers.
  • Experience with cultural adaptation of evidence based and bestpractices.
  • Experience working with the Indian Health Services on suicideprevention efforts.
  • Experience facilitating webinars on evidence-based practiceimplementation in tribal communities and with Native American populations.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and studentsuccess, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
