What are the responsibilities and job description for the TPT - Geology (SU25 - SP26) position at University of New Mexico?
UNM-Valencia is accepting applications for a temporary part-time faculty member to teach Geology courses at the 1000-2000 college level in the Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and/or Spring 2026 semester(s). Positions are contingent upon the need of each semester as determined by student enrollment levels and current course offerings.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, The University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of The University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, technical programs, Adult Education, and Dual Credit courses to high schools in Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 students per semester. UNM has earned the platinum-level distinction from FamilyFriendlyNM.org for its workplace policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s in Geology, or Master's in related field and 18 graduate credit hours in Geology.
- One year experience teaching at a post-secondary institution
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD, ABD, or EdD in Geology or related field.
- Experience and/or certification to teach online.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at a post-secondary institution.
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
