General Function:
Wellness Coaches are fitness professionals that oversee the fitness center. A wellness coach provides excellent member service which includes greeting members, introducing members to one another and to staff. Wellness Coaches are responsible for connecting members to programs and classes that could help them reach their goals.
Interpersonal Duties and Responsibilities:
Be familiar with the mission statement and core values of the YMCA.Model the core values while working and communicating with other staff.
Always have a friendly, helpful attitude and wear a smile.
Actively listen, reflect and respond to member or guest questions and concerns in a caring manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety of participants utilizing strength and conditioning areas of the YMCA.
Interact with members in the facility to model a personal and inviting atmosphere.
Create a fun and welcoming atmosphere for the YMCA members.
Take part in innovative programs/classes for all ages.
Provide preventative maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of the strength and conditioning areas.
Conduct new member orientations.
Assist with YMCA events.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, machines, weights and activities related to fitness; reaches with hands and arms; climb or balance; kneel, crouch, crawl; smell and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distant vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Acute hearing skills are required.
