Position Summary
The Kelada Lab in the UNC Department of Genetics is seeking a Research Technician to carry out experiments that shed light on genetic and environmental risk factors for common respiratory diseases like asthma and COPD.
The position duties will involve conducting experiments with an in vitro cell culture model to identify genes that influence responses to exposures that induce asthma and/or COPD.
The Research Technician will be trained in detail on the cell culture model, learn and apply methods of experimental design, and have the opportunity to learn and conduct statistical analysis of data generated.
This is an ideal job for an applicant taking time between undergraduate and graduate/professional school and will provide ample opportunities to learn highly valuable analytical and communication skills.

- Undergraduate degree (BA or BS) in Genetics, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related topic.
- Prior experience in a biomedical research lab
- Experience with techniques such as primary or immortalized cell culture, PCR, qPCR, and ELISAs
- Experience with statistical analysis of data
