Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Office of Research Integrity (ORI) located in the Office of Research and Engagement at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is responsible for the oversight of research integrity and compliance matters in the areas of : ethical conduct of human and animal research, responsible conduct of research, biosafety, federal and state regulations, export control and international travel or collaboration policies, external professional activities, conflicts of interest and commitment, and security.
Position Summary
The Associate Director provides leadership and oversight for compliance operations within the office. The Associate Director will be a subject matter expert for research integrity matters, with primary responsibilities for human subjects institutional review board (IRB) and Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR). They will implement procedure that supports a culture of research compliance and ethics while continuing to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and policy. The Associate Director will regularly engage with faculty and staff on the university campus regarding research compliance activities and work with them to identify areas where education or support is needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- This position requires a Master's degree and a minimum of 3 years experience working with federal regulations and compliance or a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience working with federal regulations and compliance.
- Applicants must have experience working in a higher education environment.
- Applicants must be able to independently review applications that have human research components and make decisions related to approval or review by the full board.
- Applicants must understand Responsible Conduct of Research and Research Misconduct regulations. the certification).
