Position Overview
Responsible for the coordination of all multimedia systems and their applications; responsible for the coordination of sound system delivery as requested; supervision of technical and sound engineer staff consisting of parttime student employees.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years' of audio/visual media experience or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience with AV equipment and systems and digital platforms, including setup and maintenance.
Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships in a customer service environment.
Ability to keep, and to supervise the keeping of, complex records through electronic formats. Ability to learn and retain university and departmental policies and procedures; names of key departmental people; locations of departments, buildings, rooms, equipment, etc. Knowledge of safety and security measures appropriate to work performed.

Job Duties:
- Technical Support: 1) Responsible for overseeing and performing complex audio/visual setups, broadcast, and recording operations for the department. 2) Tests and troubleshoots audio/visual equipment prior to each event. 3) Attends reservation meetings as well other meetings with key stakeholders as well as customers as needed.
- Audio/Visual Equipment Delivery: 1) Coordinates with customers/clients on mobile sound system delivery for all staged events outside of the University Union. 2) Transports staff and equipment to the designated event site, and sets up audio and stage lighting equipment in a timely, efficient manner and in accordance with department guidelines. 3) Delivers audio/visual equipment and support to other locations across campus as needed.
- Supervision: 1) Responsible for hiring, retention, training, scheduling, and supervision of student workforce in a manner that is equitable, cost-effective, and aligned with departmental guidelines, including prompt and appropriate resolution of issues that arise. 2) Follows and supports the student workforce leadership model as presented.
- Communication: 1) Works in harmony with others through active, positive, and courteous interactions with faculty, staff, students, and patrons. 2) Cooperates with coworkers to accomplish work more efficiently, effectively, and timely.
- Safety: 1) Completes all work using safe work habits and methods to prevent injuries. 2) Uses equipment properly and in the manner required or directed. 3) Keeps all equipment in good working order and follows storage procedures. 4) Reports any unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor immediately.
- Maintenance and Inventory: 1) Responsible for maintenance, inventory, and initiating repairs of all Union audio/visual equipment. 2) Assess multimedia needs and recommends purchases. 3) Evaluates various brands, makes, and types of audio/visual equipment and participate in the selection of equipment for department.
- Knowledge: 1) Demonstrate knowledge of principles of audio, video, and interactive media production. 2) Execute audio/visual recordings for clients. 3) Diagnose and trouble shoot problems with equipment. 4) Perform tasks within the departments event management system.
- Work Environment: 1) Acts in accordance to departmental procedures while maintaining flexibility to meet changing needs of the position. 2) Is able to work under minimal supervision.
- Budget 1) Exhibits conservation, efficiency, and responsibility in the use of university resources. 2) Researches and recommends AV equipment purchases and repairs as required. 3) Operates within in the confines of the AV Tech budget.
