Position Summary :

The Educational Leadership program and School of Special Education in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Northern Colorado are seeking a contract renewable Assistant Professor faculty member of Educational Leadership and Special Education with expertise in Special Education Administration. Position could be place-based or remote.

Job Duties :

The Educational Leadership program and School of Special Education at UNC are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Professor of special education who has experience in the area of Special Education Administration. The Special Education Administration program provides for the initial preparation of special education administrators and leads to a Colorado approved administrator license endorsed as a Director of Special Education K-12. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in Special Education Administration and educational leadership and engage in school, college, university, and national service. Also associated with the position is an expectation to collaborate with other programs in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences and the Colorado Department of Education.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • An earned doctorate in special education or related field
  • Demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in university-level teaching
  • Three years minimum successful licensed experience in P-12 educational settings in special education
  • Experience working as a special education administrator

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience teaching university students in online modalities
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Expertise in an additional area of specialty in special education (e.g., Autism, ABA / Behavior, Blind / VI, Deaf / HH, ECSE, Gifted, Generalist, Significant Needs, Transition)
  • Benefits :

    Background Check

    Satisfactory completion of a background check, educational check, and authorization to work in the United States is required after a conditional offer of employment has been made. The successful candidate must submit original transcripts within one (1) month of hire.

    This position is contingent on funding from the Colorado State Legislature, approval by the Board of Trustees, and subject to the policies and regulations of the University of Northern Colorado.

    Clery Act

A paper copy can be requested at the UNC Police Department. This report contains crime statistics and policy statements related to safety, conduct processes and Title IX investigations.
