About the Role
The University of Northern Iowa is seeking a skilled Environmental Systems Mechanic Trainee/I/II/III-Operations and Maintenance to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, altering, replacing, and maintaining components of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating equipment.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, alter, replace, and maintain components of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating equipment.
- Participate in training programs to develop knowledge and skills necessary to perform at the journey level.
- Under direct supervision, perform skilled work in the area of installation, repair, alteration, replacement, and maintenance of components of environmental systems.
- Utilize computerized building environmental automation systems to collect mechanical system performance data.
Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must have:
- Able to read, write, and follow instructions.
- Four years of experience in refrigeration, heating, or air conditioning work, including apprenticeship, for Environmental Systems Mechanic I.
- Six years of experience in temperature and computerized building environmental automation systems, refrigeration, or air conditioning work, including apprenticeship, for Environmental Systems Mechanic II.
- Eight years of experience in computerized building environmental automation systems, refrigeration, or air conditioning work, including apprenticeship, with two years of experience in evaluating and recommending system optimization changes, for Environmental Systems Mechanic III.
