As full-time Assistant Program Director / On-Air Host for Life 88.5 you would fill the vital role of helping shape on-air content, branding, and imaging while also impacting our community with an engaging music show.

What will I do in this position?
Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
ASSISTANT PROGRAM DIRECTOR (60%):
- Assist Program Director in scheduling music and maintaining record company relationships.
- Coordinate with Program Director, Underwriting Director, and Office Coordinator in advising traffic scheduling.
- Under supervision of Program Director, assist in the creation of station imaging and work with Creative Services Director in finalizing the production.
- Work with Program Director in assigning production to Creative Services Director.
- Work with Program Director in creating bi-weekly and OLT Troy Research music surveys. Oversee the music team panel and create and execute ideas for recruitment and retainment of panel members.
ON-AIR HOST (40%):
- Responsible to host a weekday air shift and voice track a weekend air shift.
- Meet regularly with Program Director and Network Coach to identify strengths and weaknesses and make any changes necessary to further connect with the target listener and grow on air.
- Demonstrate passion for the Community by being friendly and welcoming to listeners at assigned community events which, at times, will be outside normal working hours.
- General Production responsibilities.
- Because our community is a significant part of our mission and the development of our students, all employees act as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ by actively partnering with the University to disciple students in growing intellectually and spiritually, and with Northwestern Media to lead people to Christ and nurture believers to mature in their faith.
What will it take to succeed in this position?
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous broadcasting, public speaking, or related experience required
- Continually nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; serve as a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with a variety of individuals, including listeners, in a professional, kind and caring manner
- Ability to plan and execute an entertaining air shift incorporating production elements and promos
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule which includes some evenings and weekends as needed for events
- Ability to work in both a team environment and independently, without close supervision
- Self-starter with strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills with ability to work in an organized fashion and complete projects accurately within deadlines
- Knowledge and understanding of legal and technical aspects of broadcasting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate spiritual truths and represent the station in a variety of settings
- Basic to intermediate level computer proficiency
- Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment
