The University of Oklahoma is seeking a Faculty Professional Development Specialist to work with OU faculty as they develop grant and fellowship proposals to submit to a wide range of funding agencies and organizations, including federal, state, and private entities. The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) provides support and skill development to help faculty enhance teaching, extend research and creative activities, engage in their communities, and foster leadership within an environment that encourages a culture of community support and excellence. CFE is committed to developing useful and inclusive resources to support faculty as they work toward their scholarship goals and advance OU's mission: to provide the best possible educational experience for our students through excellence in teaching, research and creative activity, and service to the state and society. Towards this goal, this position will assist faculty across all disciplines as they develop grant and fellowship proposals that support their research and creative activities. The Faculty Professional Development Specialist will support these activities by presenting workshops, consulting with faculty, working with teams of scholars to develop collaborative projects, and providing developmental feedback on proposal materials.
Responsibilities
- Create and share resources that support faculty as they develop and apply the skills necessary to submit successful proposals.
- Delivers workshops and events for faculty, including creating and adapting materials to provide workshops for targeted groups.
- Provides supportive one-on-one consultations with faculty to discuss their interests and meet their individual professional development needs.
- Participates in campus-wide efforts to improve and enhance faculty activities, including serving on committees and task forces, participating in strategic planning efforts, New Faculty Orientation and technology integration efforts.
- Work closely with individual faculty and multi-investigator teams across all disciplines to develop competitive grant and fellowship proposals.
- Facilitate team formation and work with the teams to conceptualize proposals that align with funding opportunities.
- Work with teams to effectively include and integrate ideas and perspectives from diverse disciplines and scholars.
- Provide supportive developmental feedback on documents to help faculty meet their scholarship goals.
- Support faculty as they develop timelines and track schedules for proposal development and writing deadlines.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet firm deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Center to develop a collegial culture that values clear communication and mutual support.
- Work with others within CFE and across campus to develop shared resources and practices that support faculty proposal writers.
- Perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:
- 12 months of experience teaching, conducting research & creative activities, or participating in community engaged projects within a university
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.
Skills:
- Experience and success in writing, editing, and coordinating grant and fellowship proposals for a variety of funding sources.
- Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate interaction with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.
- Effective, accurate, and professional communication skills in person, in writing, and via telephone/video-conference.
- Ability to adjust feedback, resources, and communications to meet the needs of multiple audiences with differing priorities and perspectives.
- Excellent organizational, time and project management skills.
- Extensive experience with computer hardware and software for word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, and presentation tasks/assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a strong degree of confidentiality, integrity, and good judgment.

Salary : $57,000 - $60,000
