Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective management and technical supervision of plumbing operations, ensuring accountability in accordance with departmental policies.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize the scheduling and assignment of maintenance tasks performed by skilled and unskilled staff.
- Oversee the hiring, training, and performance management of the plumbing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Assess work orders to establish priorities, making personnel assignments, and suggesting alternative solutions for timely completion.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies and equipment, preparing necessary documentation for purchasing transactions.
- Recommend and implement internal operating procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Prepare estimates for labor and materials for assigned projects, contributing to budget projections and departmental planning.
- Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with safety, sanitary, and contract standards.
- Troubleshoot plumbing issues, performing maintenance repairs as necessary.
- Regularly communicate with university representatives and external vendors to ensure smooth operations.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Strong aptitude for reading and comprehending technical documents and instructions.
- Capable of performing complex calculations related to plumbing tasks.
- Extensive knowledge of pipe-fitting, steam systems, and plumbing practices.
- Leadership skills to effectively supervise staff and convey clear expectations.
- GED/High School diploma or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 24 months of supervisory experience in a plumbing environment.
- At least 72 months of progressively responsible plumbing experience.
