The University Testing Center is responsible for the scheduling, administration, scoring and maintenance of records for a wide range of tests administered to University of Oregon students. The University Testing Center regularly collaborates with and provides testing services for the Admissions Office, Academic Advising, the Accessible Education Center, International Affairs, the American English Institute, Mathematics, English, School of Global Studies and Languages, and the Graduate School.
The University Testing Center also coordinates the University’s credit by exam program by disseminating information, advising students and administering exams. Various national standardized testing programs, e.g. GRE, GMAT, MPRE, ORELA, PRAXIS, CLEP, etc., are coordinated and administered by the University Testing Center. The University Testing Center is a member of the Consortium of College Testing Centers, providing proctored testing services to students and community members who are taking online or distance education classes. Annual volume for the University Testing Center has been between 17,000-18,000 test administrations. This position supports our mission of facilitating the developmental educational process of students by providing them ready access to the types of examinations that they need as they progress toward their degree, plan for graduate or professional school, and advance their professional goals.
Position Summary
In this role, you will assist with a variety of testing programs, including placement tests, CLEP exams, accommodated classroom exams, online course exams, licensure and certification exams, and standardized tests. Your main task will be to assist in administering and proctoring these exams to ensure everything runs smoothly.
You will also be responsible for providing accurate information and responding to inquiries about the different testing programs. This means you will need to communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty, and other center clients. Additionally, you will support the Testing Center's operations. Maintaining and retrieving testing records, scheduling appointments, and handling inquiries via email, phone, and in person are also key parts of your job. You will ensure that all records are up-to-date and easily accessible, and that all inquiries are addressed promptly and professionally. You will follow procedures for receiving and recording payments for testing fees, handling these transactions with precision to comply with university policies. You will assist with logistics for offsite group testing programs, helping to prepare materials and manage event details effectively.
Finally, you will maintain daily schedules. This involves monitoring and responding to scheduling requests to ensure all testing appointments are accurately recorded and managed.
Minimum Requirements
- Six months experience administering, scoring and maintaining test result records of psychological tests such as aptitude, personality, and intelligence tests; OR
- Nine term (6 semester) hours of counseling or educational
psychology measurement courses. (This includes courses such as psychology courses in statistics, research methods, personality psychology, applied data analysis; education courses in assessment; any counseling courses; research courses in most social sciences. This is not a complete list).
