The Executive Director of the McGraw Center for Educational Leadership will be responsible for launching a newly endowed Center to maximize the impact of Penn GSE's exceptionally strong and diverse leadership programs and position GSE as a center of conversation and thought leadership in this area. GSE's academic leadership programs currently provide cutting edge preparation for leaders from preK-12 to higher education to corporate settings, but relatively few opportunities exist for students or alumni to come together to think more broadly about the future of leadership in a rapidly changing world. Serve as the Executive Director of the McGraw Center for Educational Leadership, providing leadership and administrative oversight for the Center's operations and major priorities.
Working collaboratively with the dean and program directors and faculty, envision and establish the McGraw Center for Educational Leadership by outlining a comprehensive strategic plan that defines the goals and objectives of this new center to ensure it has the influence and impact envisioned by the donors.
Develop and set the Center's strategy by cultivating buy-in and involvement from GSE's academic and center program directors, consulting with key external stakeholders on trends in educational leadership and incorporating student and alumni voices.
Build capacity for impact through outreach to key constituents, including GSE alumni, education sector and industry leaders/ influencers, philanthropic, non-profit and corporate partners, and practitioners from relevant sectors.
Collaborate with Penn GSE Program Directors to identify curricular and professional learning opportunities that span leadership across preK-20 sectors and corporate settings and support these Directors in incorporating them into their programs' curricula. Create and manage the McGraw Leadership Education Speaker Series and other programs to advance and disseminate GSE's expertise in educational leadership.
Design and execute programming for students across all Penn GSE leadership programs that enable GSE graduates to understand the interactions, dependencies and competency pathways across this continuum that will influence their future positions and careers.
Partner with colleagues at Catalyst, the Center for Professional Development and potentially other centers in GSE to identify opportunities to share ideas, network, improve existing programs, and develop new programs focused on educational leadership.
Perform Other Duties as Assigned.
Qualifications
Master's degree required; doctoral or terminal degree strongly preferred. Degree can be in fields related to education, learning, leadership, corporate learning, organizational learning, or related areas.
8-10 years of managerial experience required, preferably in a higher education or corporate setting. This should include ability to manage a budget, supervise staff and oversee operations for a complex organization.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve goals
