What are the responsibilities and job description for the Post-Doctoral Associate position at University of Pittsburgh?
This is a full-time postdoctoral research position in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases.
Under the direction and supervision of the Principle Investigator, the postdoctoral associate will conduct experiments to study the molecular mechanisms of Klebsiella pneumoniae cell biology and response to environmental niches. Experiments will include microbiology experiments to grow bacteria in various media, molecular biology to genetically manipulate the bacteria, tissue culture and animal infections to model host interactions, preparing samples for imaging analyses, genomic and transcriptomic studies to predict and identify genes important for pathogenesis, molecular biology experiments to clone and express recombinant proteins, biochemistry experiments to examine gene function, and other assignments to keep the laboratory clean, organized, and functional.
PhD required for hire but not for consideration. Degree in Biomedical Science related field preferred.
