Basic Function:
Perform varied work involved with planning, implementing, and promoting student success programs and support services. In addition to serving as an advocate charged with helping students navigate campus resources and resolve issues, collaborate with the Arts and Sciences (A&S) leadership team to support active interventions to advance college strategic goals and measures, including first-year retention, persistence to degree completion, career readiness, and student satisfaction and belonging. Utilize well-developed organizational skills and specialized technical knowledge related to the provisions of student success services in interactions with participants/students, faculty, staff, and others. Work directly with students, utilizing systems and tools such as Starfish and eCampus to ensure data-driven practices and appropriate documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support programs and activities in the college to improve student success with a focus on services and activities to improve retention, course completion, and graduation rates.
Work collaboratively with Assistant Dean of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Academic Enhancement Center, Center for Career and Experiential Education, Office of Disability, Access, and Inclusion to develop and implement student success initiatives.
Participate in the development of persistence strategies to help students complete their goals.
Assist with follow-up of students who have been notified through the Early Alert System for excessive absences, unsatisfactory grades, etc. to support course success.
Assist A&S Student Academic Services team in planning and coordinating follow-up and retention activities for at-risk students, including those on probation and dismissal.
Collaborate with college leadership team to respond to early warning data appropriately and develop intervention strategies and programs for student success.
Serve as A&S liaison to Office of Disability, Access, and Inclusion to resolve student issues and ensure student support.
Support development and implementation of Start Your Success in A&S and other student orientated events focused on belonging, well-being, and academic success.
Handle event logistics, including scheduling, venue arrangements, catering, and participant registration.
Assist with gathering, analyzing, and reporting data related to student success initiatives.
Contribute to first year student mentor program by recruiting mentors/mentees, developing mentor/mentee activities, responding to mentor flags, and providing student support as needed.
Support first year student course, URI 101, for college and gather data and feedback to measure course success.
Connect students to resources in the college and on campus that help students be academically, professionally, and personally successful.
Serve on university committees focused on student success as needed.
Contribute to the recruitment of talented, qualified applicants to the University by coordinating college events such as A&S virtual information sessions, open houses, and welcome days. Coordinate and represent the college at current student, family, and alumni events.
Serve as primary point of contact for student inquiries and serve as a resource for prospective and current students.
Organize and execute a multi-outlet communication plan to continuing students, that includes email, phone calls, Zoom, in-person events, classroom visits, and social media.
Participate in professional development, as appropriate to scope of position. Attend workshops and other in-service training as needed or required.
Interact with students, faculty, staff, and parents in a sensitive, confidential, and professional manner, fostering a positive and welcoming environment.

Licenses, Tools, and Equipment:
Personal computers, printers; spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
