Role: Group Leader, High-Performance Computing (HPC)
Salary: $90,000–$175,000 annually

Join our Theory Division’s leadership team and help shape groundbreaking projects at one of the world’s premier research facilities for laser physics and computational science.
What You'll Do
Provide leadership and strategic direction for LLE’s HPC Group.
Manage state-of-the-art systems like Conesus (powered by 4th Gen Intel Xeon Platinum) and Deluge, supporting groundbreaking simulations and research.
Oversee R&D initiatives in HPC system software, data analytics, and storage solutions.
Build and maintain strong cross-organizational relationships, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and collaboration.
What We're Looking For
Leadership:
✔ Proven ability to lead cross-functional R&D teams in delivering cutting-edge solutions.
✔ Skilled at aligning stakeholder goals and inspiring teams to achieve excellence.
Technical Excellence:
✔ Expertise in large-scale HPC environments, including system administration, cyber security, workload scheduling, and parallel storage systems.
✔ Experience with NIST compliance (SP 800-171/SP 800-53) and HPC programming tools.
Business Management:
✔ Demonstrated success managing budgets, staffing, and performance standards.
✔ Strategic thinker with a knack for creative problem-solving and decision-making.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Advanced knowledge of governmental policies is a plus! Must be able to relocate to the Rochester, NY area.
