$33.84 - $43.99The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of laboratory leadership and with the ability to work independently, provides specialized testing and support for the CoreLab. Performs complex technical assignments, which are broadly outlined and require theoretical insight and interpretation. Exercises a high degree of skill and judgment and an understanding of the principles and methodologies of laboratory science. Responsible for instrument maintenance/standardization, daily quality control and adherence to all policies (Hospital and Laboratory). Communicates with internal and external clients clearly and professionally.The Technologist is responsible for the timely and accurate test analysis using moderately complex methods and/or instrumentation. The Technologist needs to be detail-oriented and show the ability to think and work independently because of the complexities of our methods. He/She is also responsible for instrument maintenance/standardization, daily quality control, and adherence to all laboratory policies. Exercises excellent judgement, and utilizes problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Must be flexible, able to work in a team environment, and strive to be an ICARE champion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyzes patient samples using current, moderately complex laboratory methods/instrumentation (40%)
- Adheres to quality control and quality assurance protocols (10%)
- Reports results of patient sample analysis (10%)
- Performs the duties of Clinical Technologist III or II as needed (10%)
- Participates in activities supporting laboratory operations, including rotation to alternate lab site (as needed), answers telephone inquiries and performing good documentation practices. (20%)
- Performs method/instrument troubleshooting as needed (5%)
- Performs instrument preventative maintenance as scheduled or needed (5%)
- Participates in the training of other technologists, technicians and/or residents.

RELATIONSHIPS/AUTHORITIES:
Technologists report to the Technical Specialists and Supervisors. Generally works independently, seeing guidance from laboratory supervisors, and/or Faculty.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology and 1 year of relevant clinical laboratory experience required or
- Associate's degree (AAS) with a total of 90 credit hours (per NYS distribution requirements) and 1 year of relevant clinical laboratory experience required
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Licensed Clinical Lab Technologist per New York State upon hire required
