$17.51 - $23.64The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
The Close Observer assists in maintaining patient and staff safety by implementing various diversionary strategies, as well as assisting delegated nursing care. They will focus on patient safety, child development, engagement and supervision by implementing various diversionary strategies. Flexible role on pediatric nursing units collaborating with team members on ensuring the safety of patients with various types of developmental, behavioral and treatment plans. Incorporate therapeutic and diversionary interventions to maintain patient safety, refocus the patient and promote healthy behaviors.Participates in various therapeutic activities such as role planning, behavior modification, comforting/assisting in safety measures of patient's ages 0-18 with developmental/behavioral needs.
Maintains an environment conducive to patient safety and recovery including, but not limited to completing safety checks, keeping the patient room and unit clean and organized, stocking, cleaning patient-specific equipment, changing bed linens, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Incorporates therapeutic and diversionary interventions to maintain patient safety, refocus the patient, and promote healthy behaviors.
- Assists patients with ambulation, hygiene, nutrition, linen changes, and other activities of daily living.
- Identifies potential risks and early signs of escalating patient behaviors (e.g., agitation, confusion, anxiety).
- Keeps patient and staff safety at the forefront, engaging the patient in reduction techniques to maintain safety
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills to help implement behavioral interventions. Performs other duties as assigned by the registered nurse.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma required
- One to two years of experience related to patient care or psychiatric training or six months of nursing education preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to work independently required.
- Innovative with patient care required. Flexible in thinking and approach required.
