Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Licensed Lead Dental Assistant, performs a variety of clinical and clerical tasks in support of clinical care activities in a dental outpatient environment.SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED:

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:
General dentistry and infection control equipment and supplies. Standard office equipment including personal computers, telephone, fax machine and electronic medical record systems.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Implements standard infection prevention measures, such as hand hygiene and surface decontamination, in accordance with EIOH infection prevention policy.
- Anticipates and prepares equipment, material, and supply needs in consideration of patient/procedure complexity in support of timely and efficient clinic operations and provider schedules.
- Contacts patients to schedule/reschedule patient appointments. Maintains accurate demographic information in the scheduling system.
- Maintains inventory of equipment, instruments and supplies. Assists with replacements/repairs. Maximizes room utilization through inventory, stocking, cleaning of operatories, and daily preparation of dental units. Maintains cleanliness of waiting room.
- Notifies of patient arrival and escorts patients through the clinic. Provides special assistance for non-ambulatory patients. Follows standard clinical safety protocol for Patient Identification Verification.
- Collects data for quality improvement/departmental studies. Supports and assists in research as directed.
- Enters patient data into the electronic medical record. Reviews discharge instructions with patient as prepared by provider.
- Performs basic dental laboratory procedures such as model pouring for dentures and partials.
- Performs any other clerical duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or High School student in good academic standing with a valid work permit. Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and computer experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
