Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE:Responsible for working with physician offices to schedule cases to be performed in a surgery center. Coordinates with materials management regarding required equipment and/or supplies needed for scheduled cases. Manages physician block time for maximum efficiency. Facilitates patient flow through the pre-operative process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Collaborates with OR nursing and anesthesia regarding scheduling surgical cases for assigned provider(s). Arranges surgery schedule with preferences for medical necessity, as well as patient and/or equipment conflicts and surgeon preferences.
- Corresponds with surgeon offices for needs, cancelations, pre-op/post-op care/testing/appointments. Contacts patients to confirm and schedule pre-op and post-op testing and appointments.
- Coordinates Prior Authorization Insurance requests in required timeframes. Sends patient required surgical information/ documentation. Ensures all aspects of surgery have been documented in patient’s chart correctly.
- Books cases in appropriate system(s). Adds scheduled cases to Provider’s calendar. Organizes and plans Provider’s schedules to ensure surgeries are scheduled in a timely manner on designated OR days. Coordinates combo surgery cases with other Providers and their support staff. Requests and coordinates schedules with facility to accommodate additional and/or extra needed OR time based on case needs.
- Within scope of practice, contacts patients via phone and electronically to answer any questions the patient may have. Completes faxing, copying, and mailing copies of letters to patients and completes paperwork as appropriate/needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma and 2 years relevant experience required Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Medical Terminology, experiences with surgical/appointment scheduling software (such as Flowcast), and electronic medical records, preferred. Demonstrated customer relations skills. preferred
