Position Summary
The University of Saint Mary seeks applications for a full-time tenure track position to teach at our location in Johnson County, Kansas for master’s level programs in counseling psychology, psychology, and school counseling, with a primary focus on counseling. The counseling psychology programs are a fully on-campus program that has tracks to prepare students for professional counseling licensure in either Kansas or Missouri as well as for master’s level psychology licensure in Kansas. The psychology program is also fully on-campus and features many of the same courses as the counseling psychology program but without the practical experiences and so does not prepare students for licensure, but instead prepares them for future doctoral work or entry into other psychology-related fields that don’t require licensure. The school counseling program is a synchronous online program which prepares students for school counselor licensure in Kansas and Missouri.

Essential Functions
- Teaches in the graduate programs as determined by the Division Chair and Program Director. Teaching will generally be done in the evenings.
- Advises graduate students regarding their academic programs and professional development.
- Assists with promotion and development of graduate and undergraduate programs.
- Assists in conducting program reviews of graduate psychology programs.
- Recommends changes in the graduate programs to the Program Director.
- In coordination with university divisions and the Program Director develops program literature and web pages.
- Accessible to colleagues, students, and administrative personnel.
- Maintains currency in their professional field.
- Participates in meetings and other committees as appropriate.
- Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.
- Doctorate in Counselor Education (or served as full-time faculty in a Counselor Education program for at least one full year). ABD may be considered.
- Must be available to teach on-site at our location in the suburbs of Kansas City.
- Evidence of successful graduate-level teaching experience
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a professional and confidential manner.
- May need to work non-routine hours.
- Affinity with the overall mission of the University of Saint Mary.
- Must pass required background screen as appropriate.
- 3-5 years experience teaching and advising adult students
- 3-5 years counseling experience
- Licensed or eligible for professional counseling licensure in Kansas or Missouri
- Graduate of a CACREP accredited program
- Experience with program accreditation
- Background in clinical mental health counseling or a related professional counseling specialty area
- Some background in psychology would also be desirable
