Department Pre Health Professions Job Purpose
The Director of Pre-Medical and Pre-Health Professions Advising Programs will advise and mentor pre-health students, direct the Health Professions Evaluations Committee, and oversee preparation of committee letters. The Director will maintain current knowledge of admissions standards and practices for medical schools and other health professions associated with the Program. The Director will maintain and implement best practices for preparation and advising for students in the Program. The Director will also serve as the co-moderator of the Health Professions Organization and assist a student officer board in sponsoring events relevant to students preparing for professional school programs in medicine, dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, podiatry, and veterinary medicine.

Essential Duties
- Advise pre-medical and other pre-health students including pre-PA
- Develop and implement student programs focusing on preparation for professional school application and practice
- Direct Health Professions Evaluation Committee (including recruitment and support of faculty partners)
- Maintain current knowledge of admissions standards and practices for medical schools and other health professions associated with the Program
- Maintain and implement best practices for preparation and advising for students in the Program
- Lead data collection and program assessment efforts (including placement rate, test scores, internship and shadowing opportunities, maintain digital student records)
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication
- Strong presentation skills
- Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population, awareness of appropriate campus resources
- Must be able to support the University’s commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture
- Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the University’s Catholic and Jesuit mission
- Terminal degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) field is required
Preferred Education Minimum Job Experience Requirements
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience working with students in higher education is required
- Experience advising university students and organizing student programming
- Experience working with students interested in applying to doctoral-level health programs
