Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The candidate will conduct research on polymer chemistry under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).

The Duties Of The Position Are To

  • perform organic and polymer synthesis; (2) conduct measurements and analyze data; (3) prepare written progress reports and manuscripts related to research; (4) interact and coordinate efforts with students in the research group.

Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience

Requires a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in area of research specialty by start date of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications

The candidate must have a Ph.D. in organic chemistry or a related field by the start date of employment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Expertise in organic and polymer synthesis, chromatography, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy in a research laboratory. Oral and written communication skills to work in a collaborative research environment. Document evidence of publications in related fields.

Job Duties

Job Duty

Carry out the synthesis of organic compounds and polymers that have important applications in materials science and biology. The candidate will use established and innovative laboratory techniques to advance research projects, develop new materials, and achieve the lab’s goals.

Execute precise measurements of synthesized materials using various analytical instruments and process the data to verify synthesis success, ensure material properties meet specifications, and guide further research.

Document research findings in detailed reports and manuscripts, communicating methodologies, progress, and outcomes to collaborators and for publication in academic journals.
