The Enrollment Management Central Office is looking for a team member to help serve the departments within Enrollment Management. EMCO is a fast-paced business office that maintains both cross-trained and specialized staff for all HR and business-related needs. With a variety of job duties, you will never have the same day twice. We are looking for a team player to fill this leadership role. This position requires great attention to detail and familiarity with business office functions, preferably with USC systems.
The Assistant Director of EMCO Operations supervises 2 full-time staff members, the Enrollment Management Central Office Coordinators. The Assistant Director plans the approach to fulfilling office needs and monitors emails and requests to strategically complete the tasks and ensure actions are submitted in a timely and accurate manner. The Assistant Director troubleshoots issues that arise and determines the best course of action to move forward.
The Assistant Director is also responsible for business operations and travel areas within the office. They will manage contracts, simple requisitions, and serve as a Purchasing card holder and back-up liaison for the unit. They will also submit and approve travel actions for departmental staff and serve as the Travel Card and Program Card Liaison for the unit. They may assist with HR processing but will be primarily focused on purchasing and travel-related requests.
The Assistant Director will build strong relationships with campus partners and maintain confidentiality. The Assistant Director must ensure compliance with university and state policies and procedures for activities related to purchasing, travel, and HR. They will provide clear, timely, concise and accurate guidance and information to staff members and other internal constituents (BOT, Provost, Purchasing, Controller, Travel, HR, Legal, etc.).
This position has the potential for hybrid work after 6 months.
An attention to detail assessment will be included in the interview process.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience managing, leading, or overseeing a fast-paced work environment, preferably within an administrative/business office setting.
- Experience in Enrollment Management.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of University of South Carolina policies, procedures related to HR and Finance
- Familiarity with purchasing and finance systems as well as payroll/absence management and HR systems.

Hire, train, and directly supervise two EMCO Coordinators who process HR, Travel, and Purchasing actions within the division of Enrollment Management. Manage the incoming work submitted daily to the EMCO shared inbox. Submit payment requests and conduct Level 1 and Level 2 approvals. Continuously re-evaluate inbox priorities and Coordinator workload/strengths to provide high level of departmental support and guarantee fastest and most efficient processing. Track submissions through workflow. Ensure that submissions are compliant with all related policies and procedures. Provide backup for Coordinators when they are out of office.

Submit Travel Authorizations and Expense Reports. Complete necessary Level 1 and Level 2 approvals in PeopleSoft Finance. Ensure that offices are in compliance with all related policies and procedures. Timely notify supervisor of problems or concerns with travel activity. Elevate special or complex travel situations. Complete Travel projects as assigned.
