Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
To serve as the Fiscal Coordinator/liaison between the School of Medicine and the USC Development Office. This includes but not limited to the preparation and facilitation of all financial analysis and complex reports for University Administration and USC Foundation Administration. The Fiscal coordinator will also be responsible for advising the Dean, Associate Dean, administration and Finance areas on various budgetary, accounting and administrative situations regarding annualized expenditures patterns and forecasts for the USC School of Medicine Foundation Accounts. Provides fiscal assistance for all financial activities associated with foundation accounts, start-up funds, service centers, and operational accounts. To demonstrate commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with university software (Accounting Finance Intranet, PeopleSoft, HCM), experience working with faculty on account management, ability to manage tight deadlines.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Skills needed include computer/internet fluency, demonstrated accounting knowledge, and the ability to multitask with attention to detail. Ability to exercise discretion in interpreting and applying established university policies and procedures. Skilled use of computers and applications such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Ability to use USC’s online electronic forms including University fiscal tracking, personnel management, travel, and purchasing and PeopleSoft.

Develops budgets and assists with financial forecasts. Interacts with faculty to ensure funds are expended in a timely and appropriate manner. Monitors the progress of foundation funds, state appropriated expenditures, and grants as needed through the university system. Verifies the accuracy of expenditures as they are posted and assists faculty when problems arise. Interacts with departmental human resources representatives and oversees routing for mission critical forms for faculty and staff performance increases.
