The Grants Administrator manages all pre-award and post-award grant projects within the department/College of Social Work and provides administrative, budgetary, and programmatic support for all grant activities and for the department.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree and 4 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer experience with USCERA, USC Accounting Intranet, DataWarehouse, and other internal accounting tools. Completion of the GRANT program preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of USC policies, procedures, rules and regulations related to pre- and post-award grant administration. Must be analytical and have ability to plan, organize, and multitask under pressure while maintaining professionalism. Ability to provide efficient and effective verbal and written communication, maintain confidentiality, as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Manages and administers post-award activities for internally and externally funded projects awarded to research and teaching faculty under the direction of the College of Social Work Assistant Dean. Assists faculty with and is liaison with the SAM office for sponsored award contracts, including sub-award contracts. Monitors fiscal activity to ensure compliance with Federal and/or agency guidelines as well as USC policies and procedures. Monthly review and financial reports of research accounts to principal investigators. Assistance with post-award functions, including budget projections, extensions, budgets, and close-out. Monitors subcontracts and cost share. Coordinates with other departments where faculty are on their grants. Responsible for completing monthly F&A transfers. Coordinate the completion of time and effort reports. Serve as purchasing card liaison.

Provides faculty and students with pre-award grant proposal assistance. Work closely with research administration consultant facilitating pre-award activity by creating timelines and checklists for proposals to ensure timely and accurate submission, budget and justification development, sub-award coordination, and proposal processing through USCERA. Communicates with outside entities regarding sub-award inclusion in proposals; Reviews and approves internal and external proposals, including cost share when applicable, and ensures accuracy of the budget for the proposed project. Trains new faculty and students on USC sponsored award processes and software such as USCERA. Maintains/obtains necessary training and knowledge related to all aspects of the pre-award system through webinar and conference attendance.

Completes grant activity related to HR account changes, HR retro changes, and GL journal entries/vouchers, and summer salary calculations. Meets with the Assistant Dean for weekly reviews and planning on grant activity. Attends workshops, meetings, as requested. Advises Assistant Dean of potential problems and/or concerns.
