Job Purpose:
The Human Resources Coordinator (Coordinator) is responsible for supporting and initiating the day-to-day human resource activities for assigned programs. This position is also responsible for the planning, implementing, and maintaining a detailed onboarding program for all staff positions. Serves as primary concierge for new and recently hired staff for a quick start. Works with department supervisors and the HR Service Team in posting positions and executing hire actions within the HR systems. The Coordinator will serve as the liaison for all central HR actions for all position descriptions for new and vacant job postings. Assists with position management and ensures all current staff have relevant and updated positions descriptions. Coordinates the EPMS process for assigned programs and tracks all employee review dates and submissions. Works with hiring managers and initiates and posts all student hire hourly employment paperwork. Ensures compliance with USC policies and procedures as well as state and federal rules, laws and regulations. This position will be a part of the University Development team and will operate within the department’s systems and procedures for consistent and well-coordinated services. This position is under general supervision and reports to the Director of Human Resources & Finance.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks for extended periods of time is needed. Must have the ability to think analytically and maintain complex filing systems. Must be able to draft correspondence or emails to division employees. Accuracy and attention to detail is essential. Ability to coordinate and work with diverse groups of stakeholders, and work in a team environment. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with exceptional interpersonal communication skills. Plans, implements, and coordinates special projects. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the university. Effective computer experience including database operation and word processing. Very strong organizational skills, and very customer-focused are required. Must be able to exercise diplomacy and tact in interactions with others.
