Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
Supports the day-to-day operations of the assistive technology (AT) device Reuse Program. Under general supervision, responds to and diagnoses problems through discussions with staff and users using problem recognition, research, and resolution steps.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Typically holds a high school diploma or GED. Requires 1 or more years of job related experience.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials

Preferred Qualifications
3 years of experience working and/or volunteering for an AT ACT Program.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Basic-to-moderately complex knowledge of assistive technology devices in a reuse program (examples include walkers, rollators, shower chairs, manual and power wheelchairs, etc.) Ability to write and report on basic-to-moderately complex end user documentation. Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex to complex technical and non-technical instructions and requests. Ability to analyze and convert moderately complex-to-complex technical instructions to materials which can be understood by non-technical personnel. Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner. Ability to work effectively with staff, users, vendors, and other personnel. Ability to provide status reports and other technical and non-technical reports in a clear and concise manner. Ability to problem solve, research and provide state resources if the reuse program alone does not meet the end user’s needs. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.

Maintains reuse equipment closet. Maintains the reuse listserv; sends reuse listserv announcements; Assists with typing and creating invoices relating to AT reuse; Assesses the stability and functionality of reuse equipment. Prepares end-user documentation for reuse reassignment. Works with vendors and other technical staff to resolve minor issues to determine if a donated item can be utilized in the reuse program. Assists with reports to management on the status of AT reuse equipment.

Schedules equipment and/or device pick-ups and deliveries with cooperating agencies. Provides customer service in person, via phone, emails, or walk-ins concerning reuse device operation. Monitors and upkeeps operations of the reuse program infrastructure and provides feedback to the supervisor. Works effectively with staff, users, vendors, and other personnel. Provides status reports and other technical and non-technical reports clearly and concisely. Transporting equipment safely to designated locations based on schedules

Cleans newly-donated equipment; operates the Hub-scrub machine to sanitize equipment; preps equipment for delivery; and operates state vehicle/van to deliver AT reuse equipment. Preparing the machine for use by loading appropriate cleaning agents or disinfectants. Properly loading items such as wheelchairs, walkers, or other equipment into the machine. Monitoring the cleaning process to ensure items are thoroughly sanitized

Lead simple-to-moderately complex projects, including training the general public or hosting an exhibit. Design and organize engaging displays to highlight assistive technology products.
