Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director of Data Analytics, Training and Assessment oversees program assessment, evaluation and data analysis for the Division of Student Affairs, a large unit comprising 23 functional areas and more than 250 full-time staff.
The director manages a comprehensive and sustainable division-wide assessment operation focused on continuously improving programs and services that enhance the student experience and contribute meaningfully to student learning and success. The director is also critical in supporting strategic planning and decision-making for the Division of Student Affairs.
The director serves as a valued member of the Student Affairs Executive Leadership Team, supporting the Vice President for Student Affairs. The director is one of Student Affairs’ primary campus liaisons, routinely collaborating with partners in UT Dallas’ seven academic schools, the Honors College, the Office of Undergraduate Education, the Office of Graduate Education and the Office of Institutional Success and Decision Support.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related progressive experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in program assessment, higher education administrations, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in student affairs, higher education administration or related field with a focus on assessment data analysis and strategic planning.
  • Experience as a student affairs director or above.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in student affairs assessment, learning outcomes measurement and data-informed decision-making.
  • Knowledge of assessment methodologies, data analysis tools, and qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives, collaborate across teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to prepare reports and present findings to varied audiences.
  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends, inform strategic decisions and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of student affairs programs, student development theory and trends in higher education assessment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides expertise in assessment design to assist Student Affairs staff and department leaders in developing and implementing effective unit-level assessment plans.
  • Facilitates the division’s annual reporting process.
  • Develops and implements a system for regularly reporting and distributing assessment outcomes, ensuring that data informs unit-level and divisional decision-making.
  • Collects, analyzes and interprets qualitative and quantitative data, producing clear, actionable reports and presentations for senior leadership, departmental leaders and relevant stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains data dashboards and reporting systems that allow for effective program evaluation and decision support.
  • Leads workshops and training sessions to build assessment capacity among Student Affairs staff.
  • Represents the division on committees and in other institutional activities related to assessment, planning, institutional data, campus surveys and accreditation.

Remote Notice: After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
