Summary: Provide technical and systems expertise to support the planning, implementation, and advancement of the department’s computing resources, while also managing and guiding team members.
Essential Functions
Maintain and administer computing environments, including systems software, applications, and configurations.
Meet with users to assess service quality and identify needs.
Maintain contact with internal and external customers, acting as a liaison.
Plan, define, direct, and coordinates projects ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Compile, prepare, and submit reports as required by management.
Consult with supervisors, systems analysts, programmers, and end users to gather information about application requirements and interfaces.
Write application specifications, convert designs into code, test and debug applications, and ensure they meet specifications.
Utilize knowledge of data management, data modeling, SQL, and reporting methodologies.
Create test transactions, run tests, analyze code for error
Write and maintain documentation of application changes, specifications, and development plans
Design and code layouts for user interfaces and printed outputs.
Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with applications.
Revise applications for corrections, enhancements, or system environment changes.
Conduct research and evaluate software solutions to meet business requirements.
Trains end users or technical support staff to use and support applications.
Supervise the work of others and help or provide feedback as needed.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Understands department’s role in accomplishing the University’s mission.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree within area of assigned responsibility
and
Experience: Three years of related experience and/or training in the essential duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualified Applicants Must Demonstrate
Experience with programming languages such as Javascript, PHP, Python
Experience with database management systems such as MS SQL, MySQL
Experience with web development framework and technologies such as HTML, CSS XML, Javascript, JQuery, Bootstrap, and/or Content Management Systems (CMS)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Information Systems
Over three years of related experience
Knowledge of data analysis software/tools, such as PowerBI or R
Proven ability to lead and manage teams or individuals, including conducting performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback
