JOB SUMMARY:
The Pharmacy Technician II will assist in the technical, non-clinical aspects of preparing medications for dispensing and assist in pharmacy operations. Has the ability to participate as a member of a team with reliability and punctuality. Does related work, as required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:
- Functions in accordance with standard written policy & procedures, guidelines, and state and federal regulations.
- Communicates with other pharmacy team members and caregivers in an effective and positive manner. Demonstrates emotional control and intelligence in managing work relationships. Attends and actively participates in team huddles and meetings.
- Answers phones in a professional and pleasant manner.
- Possesses good organizational skills and demonstrates strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Completes all onboarding, training and annual competencies to meet regulatory agencies and organizational requirements.
- Accurately enters prescriptions and data into the pharmacy management/dispensing software.
- Accurately restocks and replenishes pharmacy and dispensing machines with inventory from orders.
- Maintains the pharmacy in a neat, organized and clean manner, restocking areas with supplies as needed.
- Ensures all expired, damaged or compromised medication in pharmacy and automated dispensing machines are removed and segregated from active inventory.
- Maintains appropriate documentation of activities in accordance with policy, and files appropriate documentation records in a neat and retrievable manner.
- Assists in training of newly hired pharmacy technicians
- Accurately fills prescriptions to ensure correct drug, strength, dosage form, and quantities are prepared for dispensing.
- Ability to process and ensure all required documentation has been met to successfully bill Medicare Part B prescriptions.
- Ability to interpret third party rejects and successfully convert rejected claims to payable claims.
- Ability to handle POS (Point of Sale) transactions.
- Provides excellence in customer service to ensure patient satisfaction.
- Performs other duties as assigned by pharmacist on duty or pharmacy leadership

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- High School graduate or GED
- Minimum 2-year previous pharmacy technician experience (inclusive of training programs)
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES:
- Active Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy, if required by state of employment
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT).
