Essential Functions
The University of Texas Permian Basin and Project GROW welcome applications for the position of Graduate Success Coordinator. This position is supported through Project GROW (Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans (PPOHA)), a U.S Department of Education grant designed to support UTPB Graduate Students.
Under the guidance of the Project Manager, the Graduate Success Coordinator offers a range of student support services to address academic and non-academic needs throughout students' postbaccalaureate studies at the University of Texas Permian Basin. These services encompass providing resources to assist and support students, from their initial application to the completion of their postbaccalaureate degree. The role involves close collaboration with students, faculty, staff, and community organizations to promote enrollment, retention, and successful graduation outcomes.
1. Work directly with students in assessing and identifying possible barriers through communication with the faculty, and staff to refer the student to appropriate university resources, community services, and programs that can assist and aid in addressing these needs such as mental health services, financial aid, housing assistance, or academic support
2. Conducting a Needs Assessment with students considering withdrawal from graduate programs to determine if their needs can be addressed, to maintain student retention and support on-time graduation
3. Identify and establish relationships with community services that can be potential resources for students that can help with the availability of additional support networks that may be needed
4. Collaborate with university departments such as The Office of Graduate Studies, university staff, department faculty, and community leaders & members to maintain open lines of communication as a means to assist students and identify possible barriers that could impact their success
5. Advocate for students’ needs with faculty, staff, community services, or university leadership including responding effectively to crises and offering immediate support to students through advising or connecting to appropriate resources
6. Work with university departments to raise awareness and provide educational opportunities for graduate students
7. Serve as a member of the scholarship committee, ensuring the fair and unbiased distribution of scholarships and student need funds
8. Attend recruitment events, virtual information sessions, and fairs to engage with potential applicants, provide information about academic offerings, admission requirements, and career opportunities, and answer inquiries about the University’s graduate programs

Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree
2. One (1) year of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master’s degree
2. Strong computer skills
3. Previous advising, case management, or academic coaching experience
4. Bilingual (Fluent in Spanish, both written and oral).

Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 – 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
Standard Working Conditions
1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
