Salary Range

Essential Functions
The responsibilities of an Orientation Leader include, but are not limited to:
- Sharing a clear and positive overview of academic programs, culture and expectations at UTPB with new students and families
- Working as part of a team to welcome and help prepare new students for their journey at UTPB
- Presenting content about the University and its resources to new students and their families
- Serving as mentors for new students and their families
- Facilitating small and large group activities
- Leading campus tours
- Building positive relationships with staff, faculty, and students
- Assisting with Student Activities staff during Weeks of Welcome
Required Qualifications
1 .Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA at time of application and throughout employment
2. Be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University at time of application and throughout employment
3. Be enrolled as a full-time student at UTPB: 12 credit hours as an undergraduate, 9 credit hours as a graduate student during Spring 2025
4. Must have completed at least 1 semester at UTPB.
5. Be a returning student for Fall 2025
6. Mandatory attendance to all trainings, orientation sessions, and Weeks of Welcome (please see 2025 dates below)
a. Staff Headshots: April 25
b. Trainings: May 12 – June 6 (excludes Memorial Day, May 26)
c. Transfer Sessions: April 3 (returning OLs), May 29, July 31, August 20
d. Freshmen Sessions: June 9-10, June 16-17, June 23-24, July 21-22
e. Weeks of Welcome: August 18 – September 1
7. Stay on campus the night before and during NSO sessions

1. OLs must be flexible, perceptive, willing to take initiative, empathetic, and team oriented.

Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 – 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
Standard Working Conditions
1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
