Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Athletics Communication serves as the first point of contact for all official Athletics Department internal and external communications to include media inquiries. Position works closely with the Public Relations Department to ensure communications meet university standards. The Assistant Director of Athletics Communication reports to the Director of External Relations.

Description Of Job Duties
- Manage full-time staff and graduate assistants across the communications.
- Work with all external departments to create a social media strategy and consistent messaging across all platforms, bringing to life the question, “Who is UIW Athletics?”
- Maintain the timely updates of the athletic web site at the conclusion of all athletic functions.
- Manage public relations for the athletic department in conjunction with UIW’s Office of Communications and Brand Marketing. Develop speaking points and prepare presentations for the Athletic Director.
- Hire game day personnel and student workers to record stats, media posts, etc.
- Supervise the writing and editing of all UIW Athletics press releases.
- Compile and update statistical records on a weekly basis and maintain archival fields for specific sports.
- Schedule, plan and executemedia luncheons and special activities, as requested.
- Coordinate the preparation and editing of postseason tournament brochures.
- Coordinate the organization of photo and media days for specific sports.
- Coordinate the press box and press row operations, including assembling game day stat crews. Coordinate the advance activities for all away games.
- Create and maintain a library of historical data, documents, information, and photographs. Make the historical information available to staff, coaches, student-athletes, alumni, etc. on request; create a statistical data bank on student-athletes and teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Five (5) years of professional experience inthe field ofcommunications, marketing, public relations, and/or broadcasting.
- Two (2) years of experience serving in a lead or supervisory role in relevant field.
