Position Summary
The Athletics Communications Coordinator assists the Athletics Department in the creation and execution of athletics communications in multiple formats to present the university in the strongest possible light. The Athletics Communications Coordinator reports to the Athletics External Relations Manager.

Preferred Qualifications
Must have a valid drivers license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW .
Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals to include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Description Of Job Duties
- Writes, edits and peer reviews UIW’s programs, press guides, website content, and press releases for all sports programs.
- Compiles and updates statistical records on a weekly basis and maintains archival fields.
- Coordinates staffing of home athletic events including SIDs and Stat crew.
- Supervises communication assistant, graduate assistants and student staff in the coverage of assigned sports, events and tournaments to ensure brand standards are upheld.
- Travel with team to assigned games/athletic events to provide communication coverage.
- Plans and executes media luncheons and special activities, as requested.
- Coordinates the advance activities for all away game coverage.
- Maintains timely update of the website at the conclusion of all athletic functions as needed.
- Creates and maintains a library of historical data, documents, information, and photographs for all sports.
- Makes historical information available to staff, coaches, student-athletes, alumni, and on request create specific statistical data banks on student-athletes and teams.
- Delegates sport-specific coverage to the communication team, with the expectation all content produced, is approved and mistake-free before release.
- Coordinates the preparation and editing of postseason tournament brochures for assigned sports.
- Maintains outstanding relationships with coaches, student-athletes, and staff.
- Monitors all sports for opportunities to highlight teams, athletes, or coaches at a conference of the national level.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook or equivalent.
- Must demonstrate exceptional AP style writing.
- Must be proficient in web design and possess strong writing and communication skills.
- Strong detail-oriented work habits with organizational skills.
- Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work without supervision.
- Ability to travel with team for assigned events.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA .
Bachelor’s Degree.
Required Work Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the athletics communications field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.
- Experience with SIDEARM Sports web platforms, NCAA LiveStats, Stat Crew, Automated Scorebook and other statistical software.
- Strong proficiency of Adobe Creative Suite.

- Ability to navigate busses and other vehicles when traveling with the team.
