Position Summary
The Athletics Program Manager is responsible for assisting the athletic director in the recruitment, student development, and daily operations, as well as skill-gap assessment of assigned sports programs. The General Manager for Athletics will work in accordance with University of the Incarnate Word, Southland Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. The Athletics Program Manager reports to the Athletics Director.

Two (2) or more years of coaching work experience in football or basketball at the high school or collegiate level.
Required Certifications, Licenses Or Registrations
Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW . License must have “real ID” designation, as required for air travel.
Work Hours
Business hours of Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm with flexibility; extended hours as required, including weekends, evenings and some holidays based on team schedule of assigned sport.

Description Of Job Duties
- Assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes for assigned sports. Travel within US is required for recruiting.
- Assist with evaluation of prospective student-athletes, including but not limited to calling prospective student-athletes and evaluating high school, junior college, and transfer student-athletes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Assist in the personal development of assigned student-athletes both academically and athletically.
- Identify and implement enhancements to sports program which challenges student-athletes to improve and succeed individually and as a team.
- Serve as liaison to student advisors; assist in creating a positive educational environment to promote personal growth for student-athletes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Description Of Job Duties
- Assist in identifying skill gaps within assigned sports for recruitment purposes.
- Support initiatives of head coaches to enhance programs effectiveness.
- Support opponent scouting and video exchange needs.
- Assist in budget management of assigned programs.
- Organize and complete all required paperwork, including but not limited to vehicle request, credit card reconciliation, and travel expenses.
- Work cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department, attend department meetings and activities, and always represent the university positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media and the general public.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook or equivalent.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and relationship development skills.
- Budget management skills.
- Ability to effectively identify and participate in resolution of departmental/ institutional problems with continuous quality improvement as a goal.
- Exhibit good judgment in advising and counseling student-athletes.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA .
