Position Summary
The research assistant will work on research exploring undergraduate student identity and grit, and students’ willingness to discuss controversial topics in their literature classes. This position reports to Associate Professor, English CHASS.
Essential Functions
- Preparation and use of a variety of documents, such as Excel, Word, and SPSS.
- Assisting with research.
- Writing peer-reviewed literature review.
- Assisting with data collection involving note taking of student ideas during class observations.
- Meeting with me via Teams or office hours as needed.
- Prepare for potential conference presentation.
- Give 15 minute lectures once or twice a semester on assigned literary readings if desired.
- Desire to work on your own research with which I can assist you if time allows in between project requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to use APA style.
- Ability to edit a manuscript.
- Must have a team-oriented work philosophy.
Required Education
UIW student enrolled in a master’s or doctorate program.
Required Work Experience
- Basic academic research skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in elementary statistics.
- Experience with qualitative data methods.
- Experience with SPSS.
- Conduct in-person classroom observations (mostly M/W 9-10:15 and 1:30-2:45 in AD Building).
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
